My first real fluid simulation with Blender (2.49b), rendered with Yafaray.
Here some details and settings:
-bake time about 5 hours
-render time about 25h (on an AMD x6 1090T 6 x 3,2 Ghz)
Yafaray:
-direct lighting (some fireflies (white dots) on the floor I couldn´t get away)
-AO with 10 samples
-raydepth 6
-2 area lights and a HDRi map for lighting
Fluid:
-resolution 400 (even with this high res the fluid mesh was a lot more detailed, I used a Makehuman Mesh and when the cube goes through the body you can see that the blender fluid simulator is just not the best)
-realworld size 10
-I used zero gravity
-viscosity preset is oil (I forgot to reset it to water after some tests, but it made hardly any difference with oil)
-end time 5.5 (700 frames with 48fps (unfortunately yt converts it to 30fps)
If you have any questions or want the .blend file, just ask.
Youtube makes the Video a little darker (the floor isn´t that black) so watch it at least at 480p to get a better contrast!
Thanks for posting your specs. Have you tried this on 2.5 yet?

@MarburyIntermedia Yes I did some fluid tests with 2.5 and this makehuman mesh, but it had to much bugs and 2.5 took too much ram for baking, don´t know why, so I used my old friend 2.49b ;)
