Now that Tin Pan Alley becomes the latest historic New York City landmark to be torn down for a high rise, here is a tribute. To the Neil Diamond song "Dry Your Eyes".
I was in NYC a little over a week ago and decided I wanted to see Tin Pan Alley. When I looked it up, I was so surprised to discover how little the city had done for the place, and so the next day I went out to visit and take photographs of the buildings. I looked for the plaque at 2:09, but couldn't find it...went up both sides of the street. It was disappointing, because I could really see people leaning out of windows to smoke as the pianos plunked all around them, but it'll be gone now...
Johan you are right! Almost 30 years of inferior co-written songs with too much production and too many strings! Still, I suppose the Jazz Singer was the exception. Neil should have spent 3 decades writing film scores in the 80's and 90s before coming back with 12 Songs and Home Before Dark. Thank you Rick Rubin!!
the best!
