Part of the reason is that the time and money that goes into making a current game is getting to the extreme high.
So releasing a big game on the PS3/360/PC is the best way to make money, and I'm perfectly fine with most games being on all three or PS3/360.
Each system has to have some exclusives of course though.
They loved to crank games out on PS2/GC/Xbox also.

bitches, stop fighting over whats best, i own a 360, owned a PS2, PS1, N64, SNES, SEGA and an atari, they were all good, for different reasons, the reason people fight over consoles so much these days is the consoles are so powerful people seem its their duty to gauge them, sure a PS3 is a stronger machine but its still not much stronger than 360 which has doesnt have as good a balance as the ps3 but makes up for it in multiplayer so it evens out, wii has some nostalgic exclusives like mario.
