Excellent question. The secret that modern conservatives don't want people to know is that unrestrained capitalism as affirmed by Adam Smith in his Wealth of Nations use to be called economic liberalism. Therefore, liberal capitalism is capitalism unregulated by ethics or virtue and this liberal capitalism is supported in theory by Ron Paul and in practice(some actions of Bain Capital) by Mitt Romney. Thus ethical capitalism is a third way between socialism and liberal capitalism.
