Gameplay footage for Torchlight on the PC. Keep in mind this footage doesn't do true justice to the actual game. It's my fault, my computer is old (circa 2003 with limited upgrades). I have all the graphics set to the lowest possible settings (the game does look a lot better than this on the highest settings), I didn't record the loading screens and I missed the 1st second of the Destoyer's and Alric's introductory dialog. I didn't include a lot of combat either.

for the official game trailer.

For info about the game itself (forums and stuff) visit:
http://www.torchlightgame.com/

You can purchase the game from that site, or you can play the demo and/or buy it from:
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=torchlight

No matter which site you decide to buy it from, it sells for a rather humble $20.

My 2 cents: If you're a Diablo 1 & 2, Fate or an overall hack & slash RPG fan, you might like this game. There is no multiplayer (which is a turnoff to those who want to play with friends) and as of now, Runic games needs to fix a lot of bugs/glitches. From what I read on the forums of their homepage, Runic Games is currently working on a patch to fix these bugs and should hopefully be out soon. Not to say Runic Games has done a bad job with the game, but they're a new company and I'd rather give them the benefit of the doubt plus the company is comprised of former Blizzard North members that worked on the Diablo series so that's another point towards Runic IMO. This is a damn fun game to play (even if it's only single player) with a lot of replay value. This should hold hack & slash Diablo fans over until Diablo 3's release :D

  • hummm...

any one here played fate? that dungeon crawler where you have a pet? well fate was a clone of diablo, but im not sure if this came before or after fate, either way the two games look identical

  • Torchlight came out a few days ago. But yeah, Fate, Mythos and Diablo do seem to have a heavy influence on the game.

  • Responding to the comments about the music sounding like something from Diablo. Matt Ulemen, who was part of Blizzard North, did the music for this game.

  • I updated the description, I forgot to mention the $20 price tag.

  • Can this game only be obtained through their website?

  • You can buy it through steam as well. Also I read a retail version will be in stores come December or January.

  • torchlight is made by a good portion of the original blizzard north team, aka guys who made D1 and D2 they left blizzard a while ago and went to runic and they made this which is only SP so far and only liek 20 bucks they gonna be making a MP version sometime in 2010. this game is going to be the successor to diablo the D3 team is mostly comprised of warcraft team though warcraft is a great game series they are not going to replicate the diablo series with 80% of the team gone
