This is more or less the completion of my 150G in which the Altum will finish growing up in. I expect to keep them in this tank for the next two years during which hopefully, we will have pair formation.
What will happen if Joao and Fatima (the Heckels) decide its time to have kids? for now all I can say is that I will do my best to support them. They asked for a flat panel TV to watch their team in the World Cup and we are all wearing Brazil parafernalia when we walk in front of the aquarium. I'll let you know if it works.

Juan Jose (the L128), decided to stay in his "hamaca" (hammock) for this one...he asked us to forgive him because he was pretty busy the last 24hrs finishing up all algae on the glasses. He also is waiting to square out an online date with a nice blue girl...remember, the guy widowed a month ago.

The altum also have names...the big guy is Simon (for Bolivar) who observes, keeping an eye on the other big fella who seems to be the leader of the pack (he's Hugo...guess for who?), then we have Ravell, Granier, Patricia, Marianela (oppositionists who get beaten up all the time!) and a few others...several of the real actors are now living in Colombia or Miami. The spunkiest one is Yaya (in honor of my wife)...she'll shred your fins when the lights go out...to be expected from a Yekwana Squaw!

  • Nada aun. Apenas van llegando a tamaño de reproductores, En el video que viste aun les faltaba por crecer (hace unos 18 meses). Tengo programado intentar cruces este año en mayo.

  • The background is actually a commercial foil type aquarium background that I purchased at a pet shop here in SLC. It was not easy to find but I got lucky. It is important to get a good adherence and remove any bubbles (squeegee them out) so the image on the foil really gives the 3-D perspective. The stones inside the tank spaced out in front of the back glass creates the illsion of depth. Tank is 2' deep and 32 ''high. Floating plant is a plastic giant bamboo from the reptile section.

  • I am glad you like it.

  • @DiscusKev . Coming from a professional fishkeeper with your experience (saw your channel), these seven words mean very much. Thank you. I will continue giving what I can.

Edgar, has podido obtener puestas de los altums?

  • Those Altums are nearly worth more than the Discus!...They are stunning Fish but i have heard so many stories about them being next to impossible to keep for any length of time, I just have the cheaper black and silver Scalare!

  • Fantastic fish and vid!
