@flashman0489 thanks ill keep that in mind, unfortunately the trip is gonnabe pushed to next winter 11-12, i broke my leg and although i am cleared to ski this winter i have been told to take it easy on the bunnys n blues, no way in hell am i gonna restrict myself to groomers out there. i'm considering this "mandatory easy time" to learn telemark lmao,
@groombridge34 I've been going out about every other year since '85. Usually after early Feb. , the snow pack is deep enough.
My cousin who was a local for 10yrs. say's, that if you look at snowbirds mid mountain snow depths, on their web sight, anything deeper than 6 feet, meant good cover. as the depths increase so does the quantity of soft snow(if you're willing to look for it). This is a pretty good rule of thumb for Big and Little cottonwood canyons, as well as the Park city areas.
@groombridge34 i went up to alta and snow bird last winter. i was told that mid febuary you will have the most snow of the season, but im not sure about actual snow fall. I stayed for 4 days at the alta peruvian lodge which is literally a less then 5 minute walk to the lift line, its on the edge of the parking lot for alta. it was great and we got around 3rd chair almost every time. no matter what time you go there will be some untouched snow. have fun! and in my opinion i liked alta the most.
hey anyone who skis alta the bird and brighton often, me and my buddies are planning on making our first trip out to utah, winter of 10-11 which month would increase our chances greatly of having a pow week?, and what areas would you advise for more advanced type skiing less crowds, more powder? Also are there places and time of the year that i might have to worry about road closures, if so best lodges so skiing won't be halted due to not being able to get there. thanks in advance!
wow that trail is just amazing.
