Pope Condemns Condoms As Public Health Threat 09 03 19

The Pope, Bein' A Dick, has condemned condoms as a public health threat.

In Africa last year - over 2 million people died from AIDS. 0 people died from condoms. And another 2.7 million people contracted HIV because they failed to use condoms to protect themselves and their partners.

"Confirming month-old rumors, a high-level source reported last night that President-Elect Obama's transition team has asked Ambassador Mark Dybul to remain in place as Global AIDS Coordinator, despite strong opposition by treatment access, HIV prevention, and women's rights advocates across the global HIV and AIDS community, many of whom signed letters calling for a change in PEPFAR leadership at this crucial time. While keeping Dybul on may be a stopgap measure for a new Administration dealing with huge problems across the board, it is a decision that signals we may not be getting 'the change we need' in global AIDS policies."

US HIV/AIDS efforts in Africa are in part conducted by Christian fundamentalists who withhold the means of prevention in contra-scientific preference to their own abstinence-only religious beliefs. How is that not taxpayer-financed proselytizing? And how offensive is it that they are willing to sacrifice lives by withholding the preventive care we've paid for to push their religious beliefs onto others? And that they are doing so in all our names?

What an utterly ridiculous statement to make, introduction of condoms in africa will directly prevent thousands of future children developing hiv and ultimately dying at a young age, and the pope is condemning that.
