you can just bar your pointer finger to get the same note as you would have if you played it with you're thumb

i couldnt follow this video and i can play harder stuff then this, sorry just my opionion we cant see the chords well, and you keep talking so its hard to follow...keep it simple!

I have this tutorial and it's great. If you're not playing leads with all five fingers (including your thumb) you're missing 4/5 of your leads.
