Tallulah is a female chimpanzee who resides at the San Francisco Zoo. She shares her enclosure with one male, Coby, and two other females, Maggie and Minnie. Tallulah is now in her early 50s and is one of oldest chimpanzees living in captivity in the United States. The oldest known living chimpanzee is Tarzan (from the original movie) who lives in Palm Springs, California and recently celebrated his 76th birthday. Ordinarily, chimpanzees in the wild live into their 40s.
Tallulah is one of the easiest chimpanzees to recognize at the Zoo given her unique facial profile (dark black face with narrow round eyes). The rumor at the Zoo is that Tallulah's face was used as the model for the character Yoda from the Star Wars movies. When she walks on all fours, she also curls her right hand upwards and walks on her wrist rather than her knuckles. Another unique characteristic of Tallulah is her love of blankets. No matter what time of year it is, Tallulah can often be seen wrapped up in a sheet or blanket.
The filming took place February 8th, 9th and 12th of 2009. The video is designed to show the typical daily behavior found among this group of chimpanzees.
do you work at the zoo or with these chimps? What nice videos, thanks for posting! :)

No, I don't work with the SF Zoo. However, I am interested in primates and primate behavior and spent three days observing this colony. Thanks so much for watching and appreciating the videos.
