i listened to the versions from slash, vai and hendrix and found satch's the best of the lot.

that wasn't cool, that was shit. it was like a very inexperience guitarist playing with a wah pedal for the first time.

They probably did clap: there is no sound recorded on this video besides the soundtrack.

VERY tasty the way he does the Cmaj.9 chord @ 1:26 -- the open harmonics with a touch of whammy is really nice. It takes a real artist to play with this much restraint and then add just the right ornamental touch like this.

Exactly. If your going to play the national anthem, then do it right like Joe did. Jimi raped it by adding so much to it. The song isn't a crazy fast exceptionally technical song, so don't expect it to be crazy just because Joe played it. Joe Satriani could make this song insane if he wanted to but instead he respected the song, and his country.
