This is our school assignment for one of our modules, AB005 Special Projects.

Our task:
To find out what went wrong in the business relationship between Ideo and Simmons and eventually developing a proposal to regain Simmon's confidence in Ideo for submission to Ideo's management..

More details:

Ideo is a product development company and Simmons is a mattress company. Simmons came to Ideo asking them to help explore new opportunities for the mattress industry. Ideo came up with an innovative proposal to appeal to the young singles and retirees. The point is that these two groups of people either move around a lot and need a mobile bed or want to save space around their house and need a foldable bed. Hence they created a 'bed-in-a-box' proposal. The idea was great, but after their presentation to Simmons, they did not hear from them after two months...

Hence, here's an analysis of what probably went wrong...

  • The unconventional start promised an entertaining and informative case, and the remaining of the video did not dissapoint. The presenters managed to present the key points and arguments in a creative manner, but more importantly in a clear manner. Well done.

  • Interesting presentation using puppets!

  • Nice job with subtext during different part of the video explaining the situation. Points and suggestions made were concise and nicely structured.

The use of puppets and analogy of key is really creative and engaging.

However the sound quality for the video esp during the summary chart part can be improved..

  • I think this is really captivating presentation! I was listening very attentively and my interest level was kept high throughout!

Also,I think it's good that your points were kept simple & concised. Efforts were also made to explain "jargons".

The only flaws are the fluctuation in sound vol. & quality & the background that you chose to use for the presentation slides! When words overlapped with the 2 dark corners, I was unable to decipher them.

  • I like the use of puppets to bring across the main ideas of the case. It makes it more interesting and really holds the attention of the audience.

The issues and solutions raised in the video was relevant and concise. The use of the diagram at the end of the video summed out the issue really well. It brings the focus of the audience back to the main issues.

However, I do think that the sound quality of the video can be improved upon.

Overall, a thumbs up for your effort!

  • Hello!

The entire video was very well structured, concise and clear in helping me understand the case scenario. You have identified the key problem involved, and gave valid and feasible suggestions to improve client communication!

Overall, it was a job well done. Effort can clearly be seen in the works of these students :)

  • What really stood out in the presentation was the use of puppets to convey the message across. In addition, it was a well-articulated and polished delivery. All in all, the efforts of the students can be seen quite clearly through the video itself. Thumbs up! =)

  • Good job Eileen and Junliang! The creative use of puppets has piqued my interest throughout the video!

In addition, your analysis has been comprehensive in identifying the crux of the problem, and the suggestions to improving client communication insightful!

The only thing perhaps that may be improved is the fact that the sound quality of the video was a little uneven throughout.
