Tom Waits should growl this.

This guy has done the best translation I've ever heard of Brassens, he captures the idea, the concept, almost everything and achieves transposing it into an American text song a bit in the style of Dylan. I really love it.

I wish they would stop moving the damn camera so I could figure out the chords b/c I can't do it by ear yet...

yeah, but this is the best attempt I have ever heard. The best thing I can use to show it to non-French speakers.... How many pointless hours have I spent trying to explain the poetry, meaning, irony, etc of Brassens. For that at least I give the guy props.

Excellent translation of the lyrics. I am so glad de Gaillande did this translation; my American friends will at last be able to appreciate Brassens!
