NJT Coast Line Train #3267 with 2 ALP-44's

NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line train 3267 arrives at Newark Penn Station with ALP-44 #4403 and ALP-44M #4425 leading 9 Comets, with Comet V cab car 6042 bringing up the rear, heading to Long Branch. This one was a surprise for me. It's not too often anyone finds double-headers doing revenue service on the NJ Transit system, especially if it is an electric consist.

I later caught this set doing NEC Train #3892 at Metropark from onboard NEC local #3897 (It was after midnight). This video was taken July 27, 2009.

I caught this when I was filming at jersey avenue how can this be a Coast line train????

Consists with ALP's can switch between lines during the day. You can have one consist switch between the NEC, NJCL, Montclair-Boonton Line, and the M&E Line. They can adjust to all the voltage changes, while Arrow III's cannot.

In theory, the limit for 44's is 8 Comets. 9's a bit much, but the 44's can handle 8 Comets fine. NJT says 9+ Comets should have a 46 only, but they always break that in-theory rule by running sets with a 44 and 9 Comets.

I thought the ALP-44 limit was 8 single level cars

Wierd consist. I wonder why it was a double-header, especially since I know that ALP-44s are more than capable of pulling 9 Comets.
