A short experimental doc in which Foley relates intimate thoughts and ideas regarding her experience of being on a plane headed to Indonesia on 9/11, and her attendance at a cockfight shortly thereafter. For "flight and fight" Foley abstracted still frames from live-action video footage which she recorded in Bali in September of 2001, and animated the frames to the rhythm of her speech recorded during and abstracted from a conversation over dinner in 2005. Here Foley renders picture as subservient to simple audio, emphasizing ideas about the importance of "voice". This serious but aesthetically playful short evokes and presents notions of shock and trauma, animal and human nature, and the notion of media manipulation.
