@keerak It's called the Nocebo reaction.

@crazycookie76 (Wrong your/you're fyi) You aren't proving anything with anecdotal evidence--especially when it's fiction. Basically everything you wrote can be summed up with "Hey look at me, I'm a talking and dancing monkey" (see 1:40).

@Ignelux made someone out there laugh...me too.
-
@bp56789 ummmm...i don't see you're point. people have done it to other people before, in real life, so does it matter if it's fiction??
-
@crazycookie76 Not really a good example since it's fiction.

SPOILER ALERT!!
it's like in harry potter, harry "puts" some felix felicis in ron's pumpkin juice before the quiddich game so that hermionie could see, and she says not to drink it, then of course ron drinks it. then he wins the game because he thought he had drank it.

It's called the double blind procedure, and they use it to cancel out the placebo effect in experiments on the effectiveness of drugs.

Penicillin works under the microscope as well as in our bodies....so yeah. Also Penicillin doesn't work that well anymore because bacteria have grown resistant to it.
There's another way you could know. Next time you take penicillin, believe it's going to kill you.
Might not work, but it's worth a try...
