This is the old Air North DC-3 that was taken apart for film purposes in August 2012. It was last flown in January 2011 by pilots Dan Gryder and Matt Metelak.
WOW!!! Hot!!!...heated windshield!!! no need to wear a garbage bag on your lap when it rain and worry about how much alcohol is left to de-ice said windshield!
I look forward to the series. I watched Ice Pilots NWT and loved it. I flew with Okanagan Helicopters for 10 years in the late 60’s to the late 70’s. Most of my flying was in NWT and spent a lot of time in Norman Wells and Resolute Bay so it brought back memories of freezing my tush off, no Nav Aids and bad weather. BTW the unsung heroes are the engineers I may have had to fly in that stuff but at least I was inside, these poor guys changed engines on the frozen Arctic Ice all the time.
