UPDATE: I made this video as a high school sophomore for a biology class. It is OVER FIVE YEARS OLD. I used iMovie, images from the internet, and footage from around my home and in Chicago for those who have asked. I am now a junior in college, and looking back on this makes me laugh (the ending... how dramatic ha!). I am very surprised and humbled by the response this has gotten.

If you do these things to "your" children... they won't be YOUR children at all. They will be artificial children, NOT with your genes in them. And over generations if they keep doing it they will not be human. All genes have a reason for being there, what seems like a defect is pretty much always actually a reaction to the unnatural environment we live in. The more unnatural something is the less adapted we are for it. This would completely wipe out any possible descendants you would have.

If you and your wife had to use in vitro-fertilization for her to become pregnant would you want her to select the genetically healthy embryo or the one that would die young from a familial disease? It is inhumane to not use this technology for the betterment of humanity. Countless amounts of human suffering can be prevented as a result of human genetic enhancement.

I think it's ignorant how people automatically think lets see who we can make beautiful when they hear genetic engineering, not what diseases we can cure. Gene therapy could be the one thing that could prevent children from getting leukemia, like my brother. Why should people suffer from problems they cannot control?
