The Thornbury Community Garden, near the Turnberries community centre, was officially opened in September 2008, but by December 2009 it was already closed "until further notice" for a makeover. Why did it need remodelling so soon after opening? Perhaps the Community Garden's website has the answers ...

  • Check this out, garden closed yet again: 1 Nov 2010 to 1 April 2011. Why bother opening?

  • @coolcat432 Thanks for letting me know. I'm preparing an update, after filming there today - another video to irritate the Thornbury establishment!

But you're right, it's bizarre to close the gardens to the public for 5 months out of 12. The garden's new website (created by the clique's official photographer) boasts of its awards and certificates. Perhaps it's time for the people to judge the garden worthy of a booby prize - for the most inaccessible community resource in Thornbury.
