Fred Gwynne was working in an advertising agency when Nat Hiken first spotted him. Since he usually cast against type, Nat though Fred's tall, thin physique was perfect for the role of a man who was supposed to be a "big eater". The success of this episode encouraged Hiken to use Gwynne again in later episodes, eventually casting him as "Officer Muldoon" on "CAR 54, WHERE ARE YOU?" in 1961.
