From the second episode of Lars von Trier's cult TV-series "Riget" (eng. "The Kingdom").

Järegård's character Dr. Helmer is held accountable by a greiving mother over a failed brain surgery on her daughter. The daughter suffers from brain damage due to Helmer's error and can't communicate with the outside world. After trying to respond to the mother Helmer goes into a rage and says:

"I have opened one or two skulls before. This ... brat is certainly not the first!"

Järegård's performance - how he tries to talk to the girl in a soft voice, how he sounds hurt when the mother accuses him and how he pauses and closes his eyes before he says the word "brat" - gives me chills.

  • A doctor who lives in his own little perfect world and NEVER thinks of anything bad about himself! Ernst-Hugo simply mastered this role.

  • What a perfect son of a bitch!!! :) One of the best things about the series. I read he loved playing "bad guys" and it shows! :)

  • If I had been the girl's dad, I would have beaten up that doctor.

  • The best thing with him is in the 7th episode (I think) when he looks down the toilet and says "No more Mr. Nice guy!"

  • its from the first episode
