Josef Köstlinger sings Tamino's aria in Ingmar Bergman's 1975 film

For domramalaja :)

  • nice voice, I assume a singer is young and will get even better with time.

  • he was 29 at the time, but now he's 62^^

  • good German=), I am not much older right now,

my students might benefit if they watch this video here in US. It's pretty hard to find someone who speaks a good German here.

  • that's true, it's swedish and not german; that guy here, in fact, is austrian though :)

  • Thank you for the upload!! I grew up with this, and it's what made me love and start my opera education :)

  • @AmusedChild *and prematurely ejaculate :) this aria brings back the best of memories amongst the worst...Die Zauberflöte is heaven in the flesh.

  • Well, it's swedish. ;-)

  • Well, he returned to Salzburg (as far as I know, even Bergman regarded that as a huge mistake) and kept on singing at the Salzburger Landestheater... I remember fx seeing him as the witch in "Hänsel und Gretel" when I was three and as Basilio in "Figaro". I think he also did Turandot's father.

He was/is(?) married to a Swedish woman and their daughter Maria Köstlinger is a well-known actress in Austria. She is married to the famous Austrian actor Karl-Heinz Hackl.
