A year ago the attic apartment that I and my 2 cats had been residing for almost ten years became infested with bird mites from abandoned nests up in the roof.

I have yet to fully recover. Either my cats and I are still infested with some kind of parasite, or all three of us suffer from delusory parasitosis.

"The medical disorder in which a patient has a mistaken belief of being infested by parasites such as mites, lice, fleas, spiders, worms, bacteria, or orther organisms is called delusory parasitosis."

Thank you to all who have taken the time to comment.

As an obsessive-compulsive being I researched as much as I could. One excellent resource is:
http://www.cfsph.iastate.edu/Factsheets/pdfs/acariasis.pdf

One vet spoke of the "walking dandruff" mite and did examine one of my cats, but said she saw nothing to indicate the presence of them.

Unless a treatment provider is invested in taking the time and energy to diagnose what continues to effect myself and the cats, we are on our own.

  • Why don't you try to use zapper?

It has been used in numerous cases against all kinds of parazites, and can be used on animals too.

There are lots of zapper types out there, but Bestzapper, terminator zapper or Ultimate zapper seem to be recommended more.

    Check it out!

  • @angomako Hello n thank you for commenting. I just took a look see about this Zapper from a google search... Never heard of it before.

  • how are things, are you still infested?

  • @ALETHEIA8881 *~{;-) Hello... sorry for the delay in reply. I still experience what I believe to be an abnormal amount of discomfort on my skin, still experience very faint crawling sensations, and I have sores that take a very long time to heal and NOT ONE DERMATOLOGIST HAS TAKEN ANY SORT OF SKIN SAMPLE TO EXAMINE FOR THE PRESENCE OF MITES, despite how many I've been seen by. One of the latest Dr. did say the sores were bites, "definitely bites of some kind" but that was all. And so it goes

  • i believe i know what yur talking about. there is a specific name for it (Cheyletiella) but the other term for it would be " walking dandruff" Although you would not be able to see the mite with the naked eye, it is possible that when you look at the affected areas of the skin, the dandruff may appear to be moving. there are many different species. Some species of this genus of mites can be transmitted from dogs and cats to humans. Take 5 min of yur time and look it up... U ARE NOT CRAZZY!

  • @mayghen021 Hello.. I just updated the info for this video. Yes, a vet told me of that mite and did exam one of my cats but said she didn't see anything, HOWEVER from all that I've read diagnosing mites is a time-consuming effort and one must be invested in doing so.

  • My infestation is real! I never heard a such a thing! But now I know it to be true. I am going through hell. My husband just began to notice. Three years and counting.

  • Cat's are not good. They pee and shit in your house. And leave parasites all over and smell the house up! If I ever own one it goes potty outside.

  • I think I have bird mites it's killing me!!!!!!!

  • While I want to believe her. She clearly is psychotic just by listening to the way she is talking. Best of luck to everyone suffering.

  • @BorderlineNOS Try doing research on the "cheletallia (correct spelling?) mite".........if you have bird mites.....than your going to need professional help....like the orkon man or some thing. People who specialize in mite/parasite removal. Try getting storage totes and storing everything you dont use away.......leave the rooms as clean as possible with as little as possible laying around......open windows....clean. Shave your cats.......wash them weekly.

  • i hate fleas
