Wyatturban-thanks for the reply-this kills my misconcption-I've played plectrum since I was a kid, learned from my dad who was a plectrum player and navy friend of Peabodys-i had a Vega tenor as a kid for its smaller size , it sure looked smaller than this tb5, and I always thought Tenor was all single string and fast wrist work-with some chords thrown in-Davis' style is much more full melody than I remember tenor-I like it-really nice listening.

Thanks for the tuning info...yeah...I love this stuff!

low to high: c-g-d'-a', I expect- judging by the looks of his chords. This is also the regular tuning for a Tenor Banjo, and the most commonly used for Jazz and Dixieland I think.
Don't you just love his playing style?=)
That's gotta be Plectrum-long neck and many chords, with a little tenor single string melody blended in. Nice style.

Oh yeah, it's a nice style, but purely tenor. The banjo, as is noted in the notes, is a 1931 Gibson TB5 (the TB indicating tenor banjo) which is tuned to classic tenor tuning (CGDA). And, it so happens, that it's being played by one of the best tenor banjo players in the world, Eddy Davis. It's definitely not plectrum.
