On September 8, 2010, Marissa Mayer and Ben Gomes hosted a search event at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to announce Google Instant. Check out this video from our event.

Google Instant is a new search interface and infrastructure enhancement that is fast and predictive, making search easier by showing you relevant search results instantly on the results page as you type. When people use Instant, we estimate they save between two and five seconds when they search. Globally, this adds up to more than 11 hours saved every second. You can learn more from our blog post: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/search-now-faster-than-speed-of-type.html

  • They had an hour and a half event talking about Google instant. its rubbish.

  • Those guys attending the show are DELUDED, Google Instant sucks ass.

  • Most of searches contains more than one term. For exemple "South American Soccer Cup 2010". As one is typing the words, Google Instant gives a feedback. It feels like being interrupted before you even had the chance to say what exactly you are looking for. It's terrible. And you guys from Google just set Google Instant as default configuration, so when users set their preferences to regular Google search engine, if they erease their History and Site Preferences, Google Instant gets back.

  • I like that event.

Yes you can actually. First, make sure you have cookies enabled in your browser. Go to the google homepage and find the Preferences at the top right. Go in the preference and turn off google instant and save your preferences and google instant will be off. If you delete your cookies, Google Instant will turn back on and you'll have to do that again.

  • someone start a new search engine keep it SIMPLE a matee of fact call it SIMPLE

  • IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT BLONDIE
