In spite of its title, and some action scenes at the end, "D-Day The Sixth of June" tells a love story. A love story between Captain Brad Parker (Robert Taylor) who was sent to serve in Great Britain, and Valerie Russell (Dana Wynter) a Red Cross worker. He has a wife waiting for him on the other side of the ocean, and she is engaged with British Lt. Col. John Wynter (Richard Todd) assigned to duty in Africa. When they meet, they cannot avoid the unavoidable: they fall deeply in love. They are forced to make painful decisions, however, the war will dispose of their lives and fates for them.

  • @BritishHistoryWWII They built "half" a wall.

  • @BritishHistoryWWII Judging by your moniker you might be the guy to ask questions about the Brits in WWll. Here is a question I have never gotten a satisfactory answer on;. .. When the Germans invaded Poland on Sept 1st, 1939, the Briitish and French declared war on Germany. When the USSR invaded on Sept 17th, they did NOT declare war on the Ruskys. I asked a curator in the Imperial War Museum in London, and he just said, it may be they were biting off more than enough.

  • the americans called germans KRAUTS, japanises were called JAPS.

DIE AMERKANER NANNTEN DEUTSCHEN KRAUTS , JAPANIESE HIEBEN JAP

  • The British called the Germans "Jerry". Did they have a name like that for the Japanese? How bout "Jappy"?
