This is a story about a little bird who claims to be able to predict the future. Don't trust him.

"The Little Bird of Disaster" was developed at The Kitchen's 2003 summer workshop. The speaking characters are real-time "video puppets," controlled with Mark Coniglio's Isadora software. The piece was actually performed, like they say, in front of a live studio audience (you can hear them in the background).

  • It's a portrayal of predetermination. When you're indoctrinated to believe something will happen and has to happen, then you will bring it upon yourself. But if you open your mind and question whatever is around you, you will see that the writer of your own future is yourself

  • I think there's a message of self fufilling prophesy here. Sometimes things come to pass only because we're so convinced they will to \begin with.

  • the bird does not have to die, just becase destruction is its noise, lets rip out his tounge

  • All of these videos are too complicated to have one single meaning. They are made to engender many different possible readings.

  • the bird was just a messenger

  • So right! We are TOLD that something will happen and WE make it true. Very very good video.

  • when he killed the bird that was the war maybe?

  • Not quite sure...Wasn't the bird causing mass hysteria? Very possible-Kind of like the swine flu with the plague part. Or the bird was just spouting predictions with no base. The bird didn't really do much but plant the seed, and watch the show.

  • Yea... It's a video. So you watch it. The sound puts me off though.

Do make sure to use your brain before commenting, retard.

  • Aha, moron.

Last time I checked, you hear with your ears and watch with your eyes.

  • horrible sound. Cant watch this.

  • My computer is terribly slow at the moment, so I can't get the full effect. But I'm sure at least 20% of the people below me know what they're talking about.
