  • Whoa what the hell happened to Dr. McCoy?! He looks like the unibomber with a disco medallion!

  • @NY4Life He quit and went hippy, but the looks of it. Have to remember this was filmed in the 70s.

  • @Riddler95 Agreed. TMP's uniforms hold up much better than the red bib-front jobbies.

  • I always hoped the Federation invoking the "reserve activation clause" on a discharged officer would come up again in another S.T. storyline with a reference to McCoy about how the Federation "Owns your bones".

  • Doctor Mc Coy was a reservist recalled back to active duty!!! Too Cool!

  • I really liked those nice silver Uniforms that Kirk and the Crew of the Enterprise wear in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

In the last five films to feature the Original Cast they switched to those Red Uniforms. Kirk, Scott, and Chekov even wear them in Star Trek: Generations.

  • @Amadeus1066 I didn't grow up watching it, I only became a fan of TOS last year and I totally understand why they did it, but it hurts the story. I could watch Kirk, Spock, Bones and Scotty sit in a room and stare at each other for 2 hours and love every minute of it... but the shots of the ship doing nothing wear on me :-)

  • @SgtTravisBickle If you grew up watching the original show in the 60s you'll know why they did that.

  • Nothing should be cut out of this film...there is a very good reason that they spend so long looking at the ship near the beginning..if you don't know why then you need to go back and watch Tos

  • I love that they made Bones a hippy. He was always sort of like that.

  • What a friendship...

  • My favorite scene in the movie. "Bones, there's a thing out there" sums up their relationship in six words.
