You are both right, here in Australia we call them Mangrove Jacks while in other parts of the world they are called Mangrove Red Snapper and are part of the snapper family (Lutjanidae). What we in Australia refer to as snapper aren't actually a snapper

How big is your tank and what is the story, did you catch the jack from the wild and put in your aquarium at home? if you don't mind it will finish all the rest of the fish because it is experienced hunting for food in the wild.
