i think i read in melody maker that joe strummer (in 1980) said that he would only listen to the ramones if he was tied down to a chair. i guess he grew up a lot.

I watched Rudeboy the other night and could not believe the concert footage of the Clash from '77-'79 before coming to the states. Joe Strummer has to be one of the best frontman in R&R history. He had incredible stage presence.

poor messy DeeDee ill always love him, Joe strummer is a king.

@greenbay357 it sounds beyond "doped". 0:39, he really looks like he has some mental condition. It may be because of all the years of drug abuse and illness, I don't think he was just doped

Strummer was an articulate and intelligent guy as well as an important figure iin Rock n Roll hands down. It wasn't just rock with The Clash and the Ramones. It was true art.

I watched this documentary teh other night. Is it just me or does dee dee sound really doped up during these interviews

The great Joe Strummer crammed alot into his short life.I've read a few books on Joe.He's my favorite Rock Star or Punk Rock Warlord.Warts and all Joe was a super talented sweetheart of a guy.Never let his fans down.My friend owns a restaurant in Manhattan.Joe used to come in quite often. My friend had a large vinyl collection.Joe signed every Clash album he had and told a story about each one.At the time i owned a club in Philly. Its a big regret of mine that i didnt get the chance to meet him.

Strummer, Joey, Johnny, and Dee Dee....thank you. You made this world a bit more tolerable for all of us.
