iDOS for iPhone - Run DOS on iOS (thanks to DOSBox) [UPDATE: REMOVED FROM THE APP STORE!]

Today, iDOS was released for iOS. It lets you run DOS on your iOS device thanks to DOSBox, a great emulator for x86 computers and devices.

It's a pretty fun thing to play with. I tried to get Carmageddon to work, but it doesn't completely run. Installs fine, though.

have you got carmageddon to run proper? I have downloaded a portable version at cgn.com, but it still is a bit unstable.

@afhaaljap I was able to roam around the menus, but that's it. Just stayed at a black screen. I think I had to allocate more RAM to iDOS, which the iPad doesn't have enough of. I haven't tried it on my i4 yet.

@ImperfectCitizen Technically, they were profitting from those apps, as they cost money from the App Store, and it's a 70/30 split. Apple has rules, and developers should be expected to follow them. If they don't, then the app will eventually be removed. Oh well. Yeah, some of the rules are dumb, but oh well. They could always release their apps in Cydia.

that would be interesting to do a tutorial on how to get games on dos i dont believe you install on dos back in old days. i know they did have cdroms back then i remember back in 1992-1991 that was a new thing. for example a good test would be duke3d (still have old cd).

@galbro48026 You'd have to make an image of the CD, transfer if to iDOS, and run the proper commands to get the image mounted and all that.

thanks man... i got "Dangerous Dave 2" running on my iPhone, brings back a lot of memories...

it runs kind of slow... is there anyway to fix it? or thats how iDOS usually works?
