January 1, 2012. Lakewood, WA. The intersection of Bridgeport Way & Gravelly Lake Drive SW. A McChord AFB Airman decided to drive his car at at least 100MPH on New Years Day morning at around 4:30AM. He lost control of the car, hit the building shearing a corner off of the structure scattering debris across the parking lot. The car did catch fire. West Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames which caused very minor scorching to the medical facility. The driver did try to flee the scene but his injuries quickly brought him down and he was arrested. He also tried to take away the cell phone from witnesses who called Lakewood police whom investigated the accident. The Multicare Urgent Care Clinic was able to open later that morning with a slight different look.
