Brown-Richardson Family Reunion - August 2011

This is a gathering of family from my father's side held in August 2011. My father was a principal sponsor of a major gathering many years ago. At that time I saw family I had not seen in thirty years. This is the third one since that point. Unfortunately my father [who you will see in the last frame of this movie] became an ancestor a mere few days before this third reunion. I believe though that he was there in spirit and I'm sure he was pleased to see his descendants enjoying a beautiful day and a wonderful gathering. There are some families who gather yearly. I can remember being at one major gathering on my Mother's side when I was very young, a large one in Savannah Georgia over a dozen years ago and last year my cousin gathered family together when she held a retirement party. And I've attended two of the three gatherings on my father's side. There have been other events that gathered family, a tribute to my grandmother a few years ago and other events that I was not able to attend. Thanks to technology I can share what I have with you all and in time I'll transfer what I have on VHS to digital, gather images of ancestors on both sides that are scattered amongst various family members and enlist the assistance of a genetic tracing company that may help us tie all of this back to the motherland Africa.
