Too many basses today sing without any sense of legato line, phrasing, musicality or discernible foreign diction or style, such as evidenced here. Also, everything he does has a "downward" emphasis; there is no loft in the sound. I can't see him clearly, but I would be willing to bet he doesn't know how to properly breathe; a shame, for he has a fine voice.
