  • My God. This woman has more brains than many professors I've met in grad school. One of my friends was working on a lab for the undergrads, and the professor made him redact the historical background information given with the lab to put the experiment in context. He said it was "unnecessary." What bunk.

    Science is virtually unintelligible unless the chain of reasoning and historical motivations behind a principle's discovery is explained in parallel with its usage.

  • Science teaching really is abysmal. I was faced with the same thing. Newton's law on day one of high school physics. No explanation why. Even in university physics it was rare for the professor to explain the experiments which led to understanding. It was only really done for the atomic structure and relativity.
