I've seen this movie, and as an almost original screenplay, I enjoyed it, but it strayed a great deal from the original story. No spiders, for instance. And Holmes doesn't get caught in a cave in.
I will never understand why people want to make a movie based on a book and then re-write everything!
Lee's second version, done for the BBC was better, IMO, but my favorite versions of Hound are the one with Jeremy Brett and the one with Tom Baker, both of which stuck way closer to the book!
@ghostfanX2 Well, you could argue that since there have been so MANY adaptations of this story they were trying to do something to stand out more.
