Kim Coles tweeted a picture of her Christmas nails. I tweeted that I was going to "borrow" the idea. She tweeted back "Please do and post a picture"!

I had to get busy turning my busted, blue nails into some fabulous Kim Coles-inspired Christmas nails.

The process is very simple and very MESSY!

Items Used:
Pre-polished nails
Ultra fine craft glitter (Michaels summer sale $3.99)
Waxed paper - makes glitter clean up and recycling a breeze
Nail hardener - Sally Hansen Triple Strong Advanced Nail Fortifier
Brush - to sweep away excess glitter
Top Coat - to seal the glitter Seche Vite** Dry Fast Top Coat
**I have read and included the warning label in the video. You can use any top coat that you like.

Use a thick coat of nail hardener as a base adhesive for your glitter.
Sprinkle on a generous shake of glitter.
Repeat this process until all nails on both hands have been covered.
Allow layers to dry 5 minutes before repeating.

It is easier to glitter over like colors. If you are using contrasting colors, you'll have to use more layers. If I had used blue glitter, covering the blue nail polish would have required only 1 layer. Oh well. . .

Some people like to dip their wet nail into the glitter but this creates clumps of glitter.

Using waxed paper helps to recycle the unused glitter for your next blinged out project!

  • Just beautiful!!!! Happy Holidays to you and your family!! :)

  • @hoodiewearing82 Happy Holidays to your and your family too!

  • Cool Tutorial! I never even look at the ingredients in polish. I don't have that brand, but I'm going to start checking. I just went to look at the polish I had out... it's so small I'm going to need a magnifying glass.

  • @ibyl @sechenails I ended taking a photo & enlarging it so I could read the label. I remember seeing this same type of warning on other brands of polish years ago. I'm just glad the warning is published but we still have to read the label for ourselves.

  • They are Glitter-Fab!
