Absolutely no clarity or power coming from the piano - terrible. I have a recording that would make this look like a high school student playing with a band warming up.

I absolutely loved playing this piece (even though I wasn't the pianist hehe). It is immensely exciting for everyone involved, Ginastera had a way of writing concerti which were challenging for the soloist, but also for the orchestra. I love the recording by Tárrago with Bátiz (Mexico City Symphony). Magical. If you like this, don't forget to listen to the Harp Concerto, and the cello concerti.

It is such a shame that this concerto is not a part of the standard repertory. This is one of the most exciting and techincally difficult concerto's that there is. This piece is a show stopper. I can't wait to learn and perform it.

Thanks so much alkanista for the detail on the orchestra!

What a fabulous marriage! I just discovered Atsuko Seta, but had heard ELP's Toccata adaptation of Ginastera years ago on Brain Salad Surgery without ever having heard the original. What a wonderful treat to hear it rendered so capably! Atsuko Seta's playing sets me on fire!

I love this concerto so much, glad I've seen this live played. Even better than the mp3.

You gotta admit that was tight. lol She did it in perfect timing and landed her keys back right in time on the right note. That was tight!

Yes. Emerson's arrangement was approved and endorsed by Ginastera (who said ELP's performance was the first to really capture the spirit of his music), but it was an arrangement.

AMAZING!!!
She always plays with so much expression, I love it. It's always nice seeing the performer get into the piece, that's why It's just so much more enjoyable to be able to watch a performance rather than just listen to it.

Glad to see this piece getting more performances. The orchestra is the Filharmonia Sudecka from Walbrzych, Poland, by the way.
