The stent is needed when anti-blood clotting medications and life style changes have not worked. This is one of the last resort type things. In medicine we always go from the easiest to the hardest. This being one of the hardest.

Once the stent is in place, the patient is not just sent home with it. They are put on rigorous medications(such as anti-clotting medications), and the person is taught to change their lifestyle(decrease in saturated fats, lower cholesterol).

The smart thing to do is while someone is having a heart attack (with maybe hours to live...) to do what is required to keep them alive, hence placing a "stint in"... its better then a long term detox diet for the next couple hours while your dying...

This doesn't seem like a very smart thing to do..

It's not removing the problem, it's just forcing your artery to open wider and leaves a metal cage in to hold it that way.

If the artery walls collected all that junk over the years, just imagine what that metal thing will collect. What the fuck?

Had a stent put in my right leg on sept 28 on oct 1 was admitted to hospital with blood around kidney right after procedure in recovery room had a severe muscle cramp in back just wondering if this could all be related it ends up i have a lacerated kidney
