Part two of our "building an external RAID enclosure for the Cameraman" project involves finding a suitable enclosure. I realize I'm a little late with this update, but I'm happy to say our latest NCIX Tech Tips video was actually edited on the RAID 10 array in this enclosure and the Cameraman is very impressed with the speed
Has anyone ever set up a SansDigital EN104L+ rackmount unit? The manuals are incomplete and even after following the instructions verbatim it will not work with Windows PCs. If no one has a video I will have to return this unit for a refund... and that bloody restocking fee.

No MORE unboxing! What we want to see is setting up. Show videos with new devices being initially set up for use. Thanks.

These raids are usually slow. What is your I/O performance?

how do you use this on a laptop. does your esata port support port multiplier function. i can't find any info on laptop ports that do. many people only use this with desktops. i have the rosewill 5 bay (made by sans digital) and i can only read 1 drive with my esata port.

The drives are hot-swap... Sans Digital states the drive thumb screws are only needed if the device travels and moves around a lot. (which is a little weak but there ya go)

@atthuynh
Did you even watch the video? They plainly showed the drives socketing directly into the back plane.
