Ice Quickie 3 - ice fishing for crappie, bluegill and perch

OK, so we start off at the same lake from Ice Quickie 2. The wind was horrendous so I didn't put out the camera. We caught at least 5 total gills 10 inches+ and a couple dozen 9 and 9 1/2 inches. The crappie hit first and last light and we both pulled in several 12+ inchers. Erik broke off two big fish earlier in the day and after Michelle landed the walleye(23") we decided he must have had walleye break him off. So......for some odd reason we decided to check out a different lake the next day, big mistake. It took us an hour to find the first fish and we only caught 3 or 4 more than was filmed here.

Tigereticxxx is right. Move and move and move again until you find where the fish like to hang in the winter. And it changes from early to mid to late ice. Also ask at the local bait shops and don't be afraid to approach other guys on the ice and have a visit with them.

@mikethemanism you just gotta find the fish, if you have a vexilar or a hummingbird like they do, you can look in your hole before your fishing, to tell you if there is anyfish. so you can move to find the fish.

hi nice fish 5/5! my dad and i ice fish all the time in the winter.. I am younger and i sometimes go out by myself. but anyways the lake i fish seems to never produce big gills in the winter got any tips?
