Derelict Nocton Hall.

in 1917 on America's entry into the war Nocton Hall was transformed into a convalescent home for young American Officers.
When America departed in 1919 the vacant hall would later be acquired by the RAF in 1940 and turned into an RAF Hospital.
The hall was used as an army clearing station until 1943 as the US Army took possession of the hall for a 2nd time.
The hall became used as an Officer's Club to the newly built United States Army Seventh General Hospital which is behind it.
As the war ended in 1945 the RAF chose Nocton Hall as County Hospital for Lincolnshire with a 740 bed capacity. Closing once again on March 31st 1983.
Next year in 1984 the hall was leased to America for a third time now as a United States Air Force wartime contingency hospital during the gulf war in 1991/1992.
Again handed back to British Government it would stand empty in 1995. Followed by a short period as a residential care home. The grounds were then disposed by the Defence Estates as part of property development.
On October 4th 2004 it was set ablaze by arsonists which was attended to by around 70 fire fighters. After severe damage and the roof collapsing only a shell remains of the former Nocton Hall.
A second fire was caused in 2005 creating even more damage.
