Cripple Creek on the Bayou

This is just me hanging out at my favorite spot down here in my dear ole Mississippi, just a creek a few minutes from my house near Louisville. Lots of deer, squirrels and snakes 'round these parts, heard around there's a panther about, and possibly black bears as well. Tons of beaver ponds and birds. Never seen a gator around this particular pond, but some other ones in the region have them, seen plenty of 'em. It's a lovely spot, I come here now and then with a six pack of beer or a jug of shine, a can of beans and hang out all day picking my banjo when I can.

This is one of the most peaceful areas I have ever known, away from it all, just the sound of them critters going about their simple lives. An old man that lives in Texas owns this 200 somethin' acres of land and he allows us to be in the premises, and actually even get our firewood from here. In exchange of watching over the place for him, make sure nobody is abusing the land. However, he died recently, so the future of this stretch of land is uncertain, as his sons ain't good ole boys that want any land and might could just sell it. If they do, it might be all gone for logging, which would be a shame really, but oh well, the world needs wood to come from somewhere...

The pistol used here is just a tiny .25 ACP I sometimes carry in my pocket, just in case of God knows what out there, but you betcha my .12 gauge pump shotgun ain't never too far of reach... just in case too!

Great Banjo, I love it. I play the 5 string banjo too and trying to learn the tenor banjo.
