Nothing Could be Finer, written by Leo & Gem, is a musical romp through the manufacturing wasteland of China, starring an endless array of cheap products and environmental disasters. For additional resources, T-shirts, please visit www.sokiestudio.com.

Here's the lyrics:

Nothing could be finer than to buy my stuff from China at the Wal-Mart.
Nothing could be sweeter than a melamine burrita at the Wal-Mart.

Toys that are lead painted sold in every store.
Even the shrimp are tainted, so cheap I'll buy some more.

Feeding my dog Curly, I awakened much too early. I was yawning.
Oh, my God, into his cup, I put some dog food, now my pup...I'm mourning.

If I had Aladdin's lamp for only a day, I'd make a wish and here's what I'd say

Nothing could be finer, save a nickel or a dimer at the Wal-Mart.
Nothing could be finer than to be Mattel's designers, oh, they're so smart.
Nothing could be sweeter than a worker working cheaper. that's the best part.

Brush your teeth with toothpaste, give it a good squeeze.
You may find out that it's laced with the best antifreeze.

Beijing summer athletes, sprinting in Olympic track meets will be crawling...
Blackened sputum sputters up, while all the runners' throats close up, appalling.

If I bought Aladdin's lamp from China today, and rubbed too hard, I'd end up flambé.

Stop that ocean liner that is bringing crap from China. That's my warning.

  • All of these contaminated manufactured products, food etc.. rainforce the thougts in my mind to go back to the basics, organic (wood toys for example ets, ) buying locally grown, locally manufactured etc...

  • Thank you for your comment- Yes, back to basic, simplify...buy local, organic, recycle.

It is important how and where we spend our money.

  • This video is about Greed, Exploitation and Consumerism.

We are a world divided by countries and greed!

What happens in one part of the world, however remote impacts as much as

next door. This is about preserving the earth and protecting its inhabitants.

I am Citizen of the world- an American of Chinese descent.

I believe in Humanity above Nationalism; Truth above Propaganda.

As John Lennon sang in 'Imagine':'And the world will live as one'

  • Man, this is great- what software did you use to edit this?

I can imagine the image motion paths were pretty difficult to sync to the music,

by the way, where did the song come from?

    Is the song yours?

  • Thank you!

This song parody was written by Ken Gray and Barbara Schinasi and first performed at Theatre for the New City in NYC in 2007. The melody is Carolina in the Morning, composed in 1922.

Our video was made on a Mac. We used Garage Band for recording the singing and instruments, iPhoto to manage still photos, and iMovie, using the 'Ken Burns' effect to create movement of the still images. (We went from 0 to 60 - just learned as we go).

  • Ahh... to be young and naive to think that wishing something can make all seem right. One man's greed is another man's living, the only people who think another person is greedy are only those that don't have as much as the man they are accusing. They call a man greedy with one hand, then wish to steal what he has with the other. Hypocrites....

  • Maybe China should boycott American products as well and give all their money back from US. GM made huge profit this year due to high demands in China, which what bailed out the big three. Think again, do you really want to boycott Chinese products? We should inform the American companies to stop telling China to use low quality martial in the first place. Why? You figure it out.

  • @Yeshua001 You need to shut your mouth and be careful what you say! Ask the American greed company why they are telling China to use such low quality standards. Why are you asking high wages to build $1 product in the beginning, which what caused the American companies to look over seas in order to survive. People like you need go back to school and relearn the basics.

  • Pfft. It's impossible to avoid Chinese products. As for going back to locally source organic products, do you have any idea of what the cost of that would be, especially in terms of land? It's a middle class pipe dream.

It's far too late to protest these changes now. We've lived with a globalised economy for years and to try and close the doors and become a self-sufficient country would just destroy us all.

    I liked the video though.

  • At least you used the correct form of you are. There is hope.

  • waaah

    you're pathetic.

  • You are too immature to understand this video. You spend your life living in video games because you have no life in reality. You don't have the strength to live in the real world. I suggest you take a long look in the mirror and then reach way down inside yourself and do something with your life.

  • and blurry and ear peircing and eye gougingly stupid.

"I am waking MUUUCH too early"

    holy fuck shutup.

  • When you buy fish, shrimp, any meat, you need to ask what country it is from. If you're eating shrimp or fish from China, you're foolish. This video is very insightful.

  • cool
