They had many surplus after WWII . They used to be for sale unassembled (no warentee or returns) by mail order in comic books with jeeps for $200 until the mid 1960s.

Where is the Sub Gun?

don't ever sell it

Nice man!! Did you restore it yourself? Harley made a lot of cash cranking these things out for the war. And they were solid bikes.

My grandfather rode one of these During WW2, he was Military Police. He told me once that these bikes could take such a hard beating and come back for more. Built like tanks!

there is hundreds buried near the cheviot hills northumberland england, they became surplus stock after the war, location was a secret, and it still is the last guy to work there during excavation is now long gone and took it to his grave, no bull shit, maybe a holiday with a metal detector, the cheviots is near hadrians wall so you could end up with some roman treasure if you don't find the 45 hoard

My 1942 10/12 was quite a bit louder - but when it backfired - pigeons within a two block radius fled in fright (Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal - circa: 1967)

Wow great bike, my grandfather rode the exact same one all over Europe in WWII. He even tried to get is shipped home after the war. Unfortunately, it never made the trip. Would love to get my hands on one to show him. He still talks about riding it.
how much money are original wla's in good condition? how rare are they?

Not too rare, they run from about $10K up but it all depends on condition and originality. You can probably get a recent improt for about $7k but who knows how long it iwll last.
Check ebay and local antique listings.
