Based on a suite by Sylvius Leopold Weiss, Partita Concerto for Guitar by Andrew Charlton (1928-1997) was recorded on a Blair Works label CD and heard here recorded live with guitarist John Waldo and the Trinity Recorder Consort of Madison, Wisconsin. A true renaissance man, Charlton was, according to colleague David Grimes, an original composer, an unusually skilled arranger, and a walking encyclopedia of all things musical. Founder of the guitar department at Cal State Fullerton, he composed numerous works for the instrument. Charlton was a noted performer of all members of the recorder family and his works for the instrument are, as Grimes says, "treasured by the recorder community worldwide." The Trinity Recorder Consort is based in Madison, Wisconsin, where this album was recorded. www.blairworks.biz

  • Rest in peace Mr. Fuerst, you where a great music teacher and a wonderful human being.

  • Thank you for your comment. My Andrew Charlton CD is available at CdBaby.com under John Waldo. I hope you enjoy it. JW

  • How can I get one of those CD's? I was a student of Charlton's at Cal State Fullerton from 1967-71. He got me into early music, recorders, crumhorns, cornetti, and more. I even have autographed copies of a few of his pieces.
