This is great, but how do I get my Network Adapter running to get online? I did that Administration=>Hardware Drivers. No luck. connectivity. This IS a terrific vid though, Tim. Thanks and Mahalo !

You should make another video telling how to add necessary applications and drivers.

a many of thanks for you and your 3 part video!! I doubt after 2 days of searching through google searches to find an answer. This 3 part video series did the trick......still installing. I was curious as to WHY some say to mount a system FAT32 so you can access files in windows? I've have installed XP home edition on an HP Pavilion zv6000. why do they suggest MOUNT a FAT32?

Thanks Tim! I was very coinfused abt installing Ubuntu, but u did a great job man! I really appreciate your effort!
I have a couple of queries?
Is it necessary to instal some kind of antivirus for ubuntu?
Can we also instal windows software in it?
Now i have 1TB of hard disk, do u suggest me to boot it with window or I shuld go to market, buy a new smaller one,and install Ubuntu on it and then plug both the hard disks on my computer?wat u suggest?

Nope, no antivirus is necessary for ubuntu. Installing windows software is not going to work with ubuntu, you will either need to use the open source alternative or virtualize it in a virtual machine running windows. Um, the hard disk is up to you, you can either partition off your 1tb or go buy a new small one, its up to you.

hey man, i followed your video, and everything worked great untill i went to hardware drivers. there is no video card settings there, but when i go to change the visual effects from NONE to EXTRA, it says "desktop effects could not be enabled". any ideas?

dude you known you can just use wubi

yea that is true...but wubi does not allow full hdd speed or as good as performance as a real install...also if you upgrade distros it can mess stuff up
