Aria calls standard rooms 'deluxe' & some are much better than others - here's the scoop on how to get a decent room. I learned this the hard way when the front desk put me in a bad room on the 21st floor that was a 5 minute walk from the elevator! At check-in, they'd told me that my requested Strip aka City View room was unavailable so they gave me a Mountain View room - yeah right. After walking along too many branching hallways, I finally got to the room & the only view was of 2 ugly skyscrapers.

So I called the front desk & told the clerk I wanted a better room but she rudely said that's not possible today & a City View will cost $30 extra per night so I said transfer me to a manager.

The manager was much nicer & I told him how I made the reservation on the phone & requested a strip view & was not told that would cost extra. I also said at Encore, a real 5 star hotel, they don't charge extra for a strip view and then he said "Your room change is free" .

My new room was on the 34th floor which is a much smaller floor with elevators & ice machine close to all - completely different than the endless 21st floor!

So I explored the hotel & discovered this ugly truth: From the 3rd thru 25th floors, Aria is one massive building with too many rooms per floor serviced by just one elevator bank. Above the 25th floor, Aria splits into 2 towers: one for Aria & the other for the separate Sky Suites.

Here's the SECRET to getting a good standard room: At the time you make your reservation, request the highest floor possible inside the Aria tower with a strip view and don't settle for less when you check in!

More inside scoop: Aria has the only casino in all of City Center so if you want to play in another casino, you've got to make your way out to to the strip. When I was in Aria's casino it was packed & dimly lit but the real deal-breaker was the bad AT&T cell reception in the restaurants & casino, and my iPhone totally died in the poker room!

I own nothing in this video.

  • STAY AWAY FROM THE ARIA. Horrible customer service operating on a skeleton crew. Chances are you will NOT get the room you booked even when its done thru their site. After nearly an hour wait to check in they will tell you the room you booked and paid for is not available and will move you to a single bed or on the terribly stinking smoking floor. The person at the counter will tell you reservations for rooms are not a guaranteed as noted in small print. You play Russian Roulette staying here.

  • @flatpat Thanks for your comment about your recent bad encounter with Aria's front desk - seems they haven't learned their lesson yet & are still giving customers the runaround. That's their loss - we have choices - bring on the real Vegas 5 star resorts that treat their customers like gold and have better rooms & amenities too - you know where to find them!

  • Don't stay here if you are going to a trade show because the pools and hot tub is only open between 9 to 4. So if you are on a working trip, you never get to use the hot tub (even though they charge and extra $23/night "resort" fee. They said that if I wanted a hot tub after 4pm, I could spend $35 for a trip to their Spa. I don't think they deserve my patronage a second time. I sent comments to management that never addressed. I guess the economy is such that they don't need to serve us.

  • i work at the aria.....and its a fucking slave camp....total shithole

  • great insightful video and tips! thanks!

  • a tub in the shower?????? thats dumb!

  • @flatpat Tell me about it. We booked through JetBlue and they stuck us in Vdara. They can't trick the tricksters though, so me and my buddy did a little googling and complained about the room and their service so that they'd waive the daily service fees. They can shove that $70 up their ass. Plus, I walked out of their casino with 3:1 winnings, so I felt even better by taking their money. Thanks, MGM.
