Here is the first of a series of videos of me demonstrating the real-time stuttering capabilities of the ultra-cool sampling toy called UCreate Music Mixer. It's cool in that it performs the same kind of effect that machines costing hundreds of dollars can produce, but on a much cheaper scale (try thirty bucks or less!)
Here I am testing the Forward/Reverse Looper effect on a live input. The input is a rap rhythm from the Casio Rapman and I implement the use of the 'sample & hold' feature, which enables me to grab a section of the audio input and hold it in a buffer until I decide to release it. You can see the sample/hold feature in effect when I put down the sampler and it continues stuttering on it's own. It would keep stuttering by itself until the batteries went dead!
Is anyone making good musical use of one of these toys? I've been looking around, but everyone is just playing crap and casios and stuff through these things to the same annoying effect. My vote is for Izotope Stutter if you're interested in making music, all this toy stuff is for kids.
