Visit http://cookingupastory.com for more videos, and stories. When I can, I like to take the backroads through the countryside. Not only is it beautiful, I discover parts of this country that are usually only seen by the locals.

One of those discoveries is the ever present farm stand. Have you seen them? They range in size and complexity from a small building to a board perched upon concrete blocks. But they all contain freshly harvested food from the farm just up the drive from the stand. And that is the draw for me.

  • very cool, wish you were closer. keep spreading the word, this is what the country needs more of - good people, honest people

  • @olov244 I'm sure there are many near you!

  • This is an inspirational story. I'm wondering where you are in Vermont. Would love to swing by! We used to have a similar farm stand near us in Essex, NY that was run by the Sayward family for many, many years, but it closed up a few summers ago. Still miss it!

  • @virtualDavis They are in Alburgh, VT - which is in the northwest corner of the state - nestled against NY and Canada, along Route 2. Drive up and check them out sometime. Really nice people!

  • Great story, great farm!

  • @WestofKevin It really is! Heather's family has been farming this land for over 200 years - quite the history.

  • Definitely what we need more of in the U.S.! Great inspiration!!

Wishing you continued success & lots of "copycats"!

  • Oh, I really love this!! Best of luck for the success of your farm! And I can totally see where the horseshoe drive on a busy road is a lure in itself. :D Not to mention the 24/7 fresh farm market aspect with 'no waiting' - special! Hehe - I kept waiting for one of the customers on the video to show up with their own market bags.

  • One of my fondest memories of New Hampshire was buying fresh eggs at a roadside "on your honor" cooler. Very zen.

  • good idea!

  • Good Luck you are good people!!!
